Angel and Demons : When (Our) Idealism Rules

Humanity aspect always appear in everybody's life. Including the life of a priest, even a Pope. That's exactly what Angel and Demons trying to convey. Although we have a very very very high faith in God, we still live on earth. The fight that we should fight is the fight against our own flesh and blood.

As a human, we have to admit that we also have what we call a standard life. Not only according to our environment, company or whatsoever, but also to ourselves. We have what we called our Idealism. If you say that you are not such a person, well let me tell you, we all an idealist. Probably not to the law, but to ourselves. We have our own standard.

This is also what i've learned through Angels and Demons. This book mention a character, that (supposed to be) noble in front of the public but then again, he set it noble on his own point of view.

This character is the camerlengo. He is actually have his own standard, that he believed as the most righteous ever, he claimed it as the one from God. Well, he is right, definitely right. But he applied it not appropriate as it should.

There are some things that drove camerlengo to do those things he claimed to be right, but it turned out to be definetely wrong. It is basically some simple things.

First, he didn't want to be changed by something new. He claimed everything that (seems) not Godly to be bad. Such as ... science. He didn't look it from the other side of the coin, and he didn't accept any other opinion, mostly from science.

Second, he didn't have any will to listen to others until they're finished. He only drove by the first sentence that came out from others mouth.

Third, he was being a very judgemental person. Thus, he never give anybody a chance to explain something.

These three things that i recon from the character of camerlengo, i can only reflect to myself. Though probably i don't have that capability (that i know) to do such things like he does in the Angels and Demons, but i do understand, that, we sometimes forget these three things as well.

We don't want to be changed by something new, we don't want to listen to others while they were talking and we sometimes always generalize other people that we judge them easily. The thing is, life is not like that. We shouldn't be like that. We shouldn't be too harsh on ourselves that we applied values that (according to us) is perfect.

This world is not perfect, because we live in it. It was perfect, until, we fell to sin. That's why i said this world is not perfect, because we're in it.

So, i learned from this book that, we couldn't force anyone to be like us. What we could do, is to do our best to live our live like what we believe is true. And of course to respect others as we want to be respected by others as well.
